Admission Requirements

In addition to the academic qualifications listed below for each program of study, applicants are assessed before entry to establish that they are Christians who are maturing spiritually. They should be in good standing with their local church, and in a reasonable state of health. All applications are assessed by a committee made up of members of the MBS Administrative Team (this team consists of the President and Deans of the seminary). Applications are assessed on a rolling basis. Decisions are typically made within two weeks of receipt of all required documents and payment of the application fee.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION TO ALL MBS PROGRAMS

  • Application – this will determine

            1. genuineness of conversion and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ

            2. present involvement in Christian service

            3. a sense of vocation in future service for the Lord

  • Three References who can verify the potential student’s readiness for study and service

  • $50 application fee (pay online or by check to MBS, 2600 Olive Branch Way, Marriottsville, MD 21104)

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR CERTIFICATE IN CHRISTIAN STUDIES (CSS) AND BACHELOR OF THEOLOGY (BTH)

  • Copy of High School diploma or GED (for applicants under age 25)

  • Transcripts from any tertiary institutions, if you wish to transfer credit into MBS. (Please also send along a catalog or website information from that institution. Be sure it includes course descriptions.)

Entrance to the CCS or BTH requires the following:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • The Seminary has a mature entry policy, i.e. a student may be granted mature age exemption from High School diploma if the applicant is 25 or older.

  • Acceptance of the student is based upon the information submitted in the application and from the three references.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR MASTER OF DIVINITY (MDIV) AND MASTER OF ARTS IN THEOLOGICAL STUDIES (MATS)

  • Transcripts or diploma from undergraduate institution demonstrating completion of bachelor’s degree. (A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required to pursue the M.Div. If you wish to transfer credit into MBS from another master’s program please also send along a transcript and catalog or website information from that institution. Be sure it includes course descriptions.)

Entrance to the MDIV and MATS is as follows:

  • The minimum requirement is a completed bachelor’s degree substantiated by the submission of a transcript.

  • Acceptance of the student is based upon the information submitted in the application and from the three references.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR ACCELERATED MASTER OF ARTS IN THEOLOGICAL STUDIES (+MATS)

  • Graduate of MBS’s BTh or MDiv degree program.

Entrance to the +MATS is as follows:

  • Acceptance of the student is based upon the information submitted in the application.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • An English proficiency test is required for most international students. Minimum scores required:

    • TOEFL iBT: minimum score of 80 overall (Preferred: 94 overall), with a minimum of 24 in writing and 20 in reading comprehension.

    • IELTS: minimum score of 6.5 overall (Preferred: 7.0 overall), with a minimum of 6.5 in both written and reading comprehension.

    • Duolingo: minimum score of 105 overall (Preferred: 115 overall), with a minimum of 105 in both Literacy and Production.

  • MBS is not eligible to sponsor international students.
